Critically Reviewing Your Photos V

- What are you trying to accomplish? - Get a cute photo of the baby for the parents to send to friends.
- Can you identify the subject? - Yes.
- Is there a message? Can you find it? - This baby is exploring herself and learning what she can do, and this lends to the 'cuteness' the parents desired.
- Is it properly exposed? - Yes.
- Is it in focus? Is the right part in focus? - Parts are in focus, but more should be. Since the baby is focusing on her hand, at least this also needs to be in focus.
- Is the subject in a position on the photo that draws your interest? - Yes, the viewer is almost immediately drawn to her eyes.
- Does the photo feel balanced? If off balance, is this intentional? - No, because the upper hand is cut off, it seems to lack a little balance.
- Can you distinguish between positive and negative space? - Yes.
- Is the background non-distracting? - Yes.
- Are frames present? Are they appropriate for the photo? - No, they are not present, but are also not needed.
- Do any leading lines draw you in or are they working against you? - The diagonal created by her eyes draw the viewer to her hand.
- What can be removed from the photo that would give a more desirable result? - If the right hand were added back into the photo, removing some of the extra background from the right would add to the balance of the photo.
- What could have been done better to accomplish your goal with the photo? - Get more of the baby in focus, and don't cut off her right hand.
